2009 Autumn League - Round 1

Greetings HK disc players!

It's excellent to be back for another round of league!
Field 1 - White vs. Red
It was quite a game between white and red.  Although, the real story has nothing to do with the fact that they traded points most of the evening, but rather that the red guys are missing out on the chance to meet up with the abundance of single ladies.  All six of the women showed up to play, but the red guys only managed to produce five able bodies.  Unreal!  Apparently there was something more important going on for the rest of the guys... such as tea-bagging paulie coffey.  Anyway, the non-tea-bagging red guys played savage for the evening and managed to stay point for point with white.  Great job.  The only downside to their game were the incredibly long breaks between points.  Alex was getting so desperate for me to do something that he was willing to pawn off any future children.  Thankfully Kristin and I are not ready for kids.  In the end, white managed to capitalize on the abundance of turnovers more than run and pulled out their first victory with a score of 7-6.
Field 2 - Blue vs. Yellow
Meanwhile, there was a slaughtering happening on the field next door.  Based on previous league experiences, we learned that Jake's team was guaranteed a losing record for the season.  Not so now!  After much practice picking fantasy football squads, Jake overcame his previous poor league choices and managed to sneak a team of experienced players together.  Well done you cheeky bugger!  It certainly showed as blue dominated the game play for the evening.  It even inspired KP to complete his second lay-out catch of his ultimate career.  However, yellow was not without their shining moments.  There was some excellent handling from Dr. Evil himself, who managed to complete numerous throws to our UCLA representative, two-tone Harry.  It is also worth mentioning that Neal was rubbing heads...errrr, getting heady... errrr, Neal was doing something with the any and all sidelined persons.  However, Neal's antics and cheers were not enough, and team yellow ended in a 15-5 loss to blue.
Finally, most of team black was playing cards with the auto mechanics on caroline hill road for the duration of the evening.  Hopefully we'll see a better turn out of the bye team next week.
Farewell for now,
Grant
